Dec. 21, 2012, won't be the end of the world as we know it. However, it will be another winter solstice. If you really want to do something- go be nice to people. Hug your dog or your kid or your gecko. Pay a compliment. Tell your family you love them. Smile. Don't do because the world is ending- do it because it's not.

Please do! On Facebook, LJ, tell your friends- whatever you can do will help. We're getting panicked calls every day at work from people- not only adults, but kids who've been scared by this nonsense. Reassuring a frightened seven-year-old who's afraid he won't wake up on Saturday is not a happy moment. :(

Thank you for this. I'd like to share it with my LJ friends if that's OK. Also, I'm sorry to hear you're having to comfort frightened kids. I didn't even think about that ... shame on the adults who scared them!

The parents calling in are either just as frightened, or their kids heard it elsewhere- between the net and Discovery/Science/History channels, there's a lot of fearmongering out there.
