The five questions meme! If you want some, comment here and repost & respond in your own journal.
1. Author whose books you'll always read? (Yes, I'm shamelessly using you for book recs since I figure by now that our tastes in literature are fairly similar.)
Gee, I mind so much...
Margaret Frazer's Sister Frevisse series- mysteries set in Henry VI's England.
Sharon Kay Penman- both her straight historical fiction and her mysteries. Love her Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Mercedes Lackey writes fluffy fantasy and some days that's just what I need.
Nancy Atherton has a lovely cozy mystery series going. Her books make me want to move to England and live in a honey-colored cottage in a small village. I also want a Aunt Dimity!
Rosamunde Pilcher does wonderful cozy domestic fiction.
John Buchan wrote thrillers back when you couldn't use sex to carry the plot forward. They're intelligent and make me want to take 15 mile walks and be outdoorsy.
2. If you could condense your belief system into one sentence, what would it be?
"There's only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you've got to be kind."
3. What were you like in HS/equivalent?
Shy- I hid in the library a lot. Loner- my closest friend was the librarian- big surprise. I developed ulcerative colitis when I was 15 and was out of school for a semester, then transferred to the alternative school for my last two years. It was not a fun time in my life.
4. A personality trait of yours you appreciate? Why?
I am comfortable functioning on my own- I have no problems going shopping/sightseeing/out to eat/traveling/living solo. I appreciate it because I lived in a boardinghouse for six years and a number of the other residents were very uncomfortable doing anything alone. They could grocery shop and go to work/class, but anything else had to be a group expedition. I like doing things with other people, but I don't have to.
5. Is there anything you want from life that you haven't managed yet?
Winning the lottery.
